Liam Shanahan
Director
Liam holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours) and Bachelor of Applied Science (Computer Science) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He has worked at APL since 2009 and has been the owner/director since 2019. He is a Technical Assessor and member of the Accreditation Advisory Committee for the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA). He received the Metrologist Award from the Metrology Society of Australasia (MSA) in 2025 and is a central member of the MSA’s Pressure Interest Group.
Randall Anderson
Founder and Calibration Engineer
Randall holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from Melbourne University. Randall established APL in 1994 and is widely regarded as the pre-eminent pressure calibration expert in Australia. He is a founding member of the Metrology Society of Australasia and is an author in the National Measurement Institute’s Monograph 7 (Pressure Measurement).
Rowan Anderson
Calibration Engineer
Rowan holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from Melbourne University. Rowan joined his brother, Randall, at APL in 1998. He has been a leader in pressure metrology in Australia for over 20 years and was central in the development of the MSA Test Methods, used throughout Australia for pressure calibration. He is a NATA Technical Assessor in pressure.
Jordy Anderson
Lead Calibration Engineer
Jordy holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from Swinburne University. He began working at APL in 2012, as a young man in secondary school, which sparked his interest in science and technology, leading him to continue formal studies in engineering. Jordy is the lead engineer in our pressure section and has detailed knowledge in all aspects of pressure calibration including cross-floating of piston gauges.
Jordan Hough-Anderson
Calibration Technician
Jordan completed a Bachelor of Science at LaTrobe University and joined the APL team in 2015. He is the lead scientist in our electrical section but also has extensive experience in a wide range of pressure calibration, making him a multifunction calibrator specialist.
Nick Mason
Quality Manager
Nick holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Manuf. & Engineering Management) and Bachelor of Applied Science (Comp. Sci) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He has worked at APL since 2018. Nick brings extensive experience working as a quality engineer for the automotive industry in Australia and Europe.
Olivia Shanahan
Accounts Manager
Olivia holds a Bachelor of Orthoptic and Ophthalmic Sciences from LaTrobe University. Her excellent organisational skills ensure that APL business activities run smoothly and all accounts matters are addressed promptly. She partners her husband, Liam Shanahan, in the ownership and management of APL. She plays a key role in managing client accounts and ensuring compliance with industry standards to maintain APL’s reputation for reliability and quality.
Scott Butler
Workflow and Logistics Coordinator
Scott holds a Bachelor of Science in Computing from Robert Gordon University, Scotland, and has a wide range of industry experience ranging from project management in offshore oil and gas to IT management for private and government organisations. Scott carefully manages orders coming in and out of APL to make sure your instruments are completed on-time, incorporating any special testing requirements. Scott’s strong IT knowledge helps to ensure our essential computer systems are running efficiently and securely.
